The paintings of Archie Dunbar McIntosh are full of fun, they make you smile as you search for the familiar shapes and patterns that have been the hallmark of his paintings for over twenty years. They are complicated compositions of shifting seaside shapes and familiar motifs from harbours and seashores that have surrounded him all his life. Clever constructions of colour and lines that fool your eyes and understanding, on another level they are complex and harmonious, imbued with a perfect balance. Archie’s paintings continue to fascinate and entertain the viewer, as they gradually reveal their secrets.
Stafford Gallery are priviledged to be exhibiting the paintings of one of Scotlands most reknowed painters.
